Several months of blood, sweat, and tears went into this video, not to mention broken equipment, reshoots, a near disaster on the Williamsburg Bridge, and multiple 5 am call times. It’s also interesting to note that both Andrew and I have similar stories, 5 years apart. I hope you enjoy this video and that it inspires you in one way or another. Andrew and I fly to Africa in exactly 2 weeks…

All My Best,
Reuben

I’ve enjoyed bouncing off walls ever since I was in junior high, literally #peterparkour #selfportrait (at Williamsburg Bklyn)
I captured this photo using a tripod and intervalometer. I wish I had a behind the scenes photo to show for all of my effort but I was by myself. A bunch of bystanders got a free show and snapped some behind the scenes photos.

I leave in 2 days for my Arctic photo residency! I created this stop motion animation mainly for fun and to test out the Lowepro DryZone Backpack before I hit the elements next week. I really did load this bag with 2 DSLR cameras and 3 lenses while testing. Yesterday my friend Evan was helping me out and we got caught in the middle of a torrential downpour literally in the middle of shooting the DREAM sequence. We were soaked to the core, but thankfully my gear stayed dry. I’m so grateful to be partnering with Lowepro, and next week we’re doing a giveaway so stay tuned for details!

Foster the People giving us a reason to dance on the eve of their new record release, Supermodel, at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. I don’t know Mark Foster personally, but he hooked us up with free tickets and VIP passes so he seems like quite a swell guy. Check out their new album that drops today!

Today marks the one year anniversary of when Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on NYC, and we’re still going strong. It felt very apocalyptic, haunting, and eerie afterwards, and it’s a time that I will never forget. I’ve met people that literally lost everything, yet they manage to live life with an incredible sense of resilience.

1. A haunting and eerie Manhattan skyline the night after Sandy devastated NYC, leaving millions and much of lower Manhattan powerless for days. This image was published by NBC New York and exhibited at Photoville NYC this year.

2. I rode my bike around Manhattan in the dark and took this photo in Soho. It was an incredibly difficult image to capture, took no less than an hour, and I still didn’t nail the focus.

3. A generator lights up this deli in the lower east side, in the midst of the darkness.
