For About $20, Cardboard Bicycle Could ‘Change The World,’ Inventor Says
An Israeli inventor has come up with a way to make a bicycle almost entirely out of cardboard — and so inexpensively that he thinks retailers would only need to charge about $20 for one. The inventor, Izhar Gafni, believes the bike could be a boon to the world’s most traffic-congested cities and help people in remote parts of the Third World get from place to place. He’s reached a deal to start mass production in a few months, Gafni tells Reuters. Full story at NPR.

This is one of my most memorable travel moments of all time. My South African friend, Garth, had been visiting Kruger for over 14 years and had never seen a leopard there until this moment. We saw not one, but two leopards (mom and cub) crossing the road in front of our vehicle.

Going through old South Africa footage makes me excited to plan my next adventure. Here are some screen shots from Kruger National Park and great white shark diving in Gansbaai. The lion was filmed using a 50 mm lens from an open air safari vehicle so that’s really how close it was.

One of my favorite subway (seen on the L train) performers. This guy belts out a positive, feel good song and never asks for anything in return. All he says is simply, “Thanks and have a nice day.” The last time I saw him he sang Don’t Worry Be Happy.
