A time-lapse of Planet Earth, created from images produced by the geostationary Electro-L Weather Satellite. The images were obtained beginning on May 14th, and end on May 20th, 2011. The images are the largest whole disk images of our planet, each image is 121 megapixels, and the resolution is 1 kilometer per pixel. They are taken every half hour, and have been interpolated (smoothed) to create this video. The images are taken in four different wavelengths of light, three visible, and one infrared. The infrared light appears orange in these images, and shows vegetation.

I cannot wait to see this film on an IMAX screen and I’m anticipating it to be one of the most beautiful films I will ever see.

Samsara is a new non verbal documentary film by the creators of 1992’s lauded “Baraka”. It took five years to make, and was shot in over 100 locations in 25 countries. It is one of only a handful of films to be shot on 70mm film in the last forty years. Directed by Ron Fricke and produced by Mark Magidson. Samsara will be in US Theaters August 24th 2012, with international releases soon to follow.

See the Louvre Palace empty. See all the traffic of Beijing roads disappear. See Times Square abandoned completely, except for one solitary soul standing still with a plastic bag. We’ve got your post-apocalyptic fantasies right here! Artists Lucie & Simon have created this series using a neutral density filter, used by NASA to analyze stars. Full story here.

The Holstee Manifesto Lifecycle Video

holstee.com/manifesto

The Holstee Manifesto is a call to action to live a life full of intention, creativity, passion, and community.

The LifeCycle Film came about as a desire to bring the energy and passion behind the Manifesto to life through something we love–biking. As we seek to live mindful lifestyles that leave a positive impact on the people and world around us, biking has become a passion that is much more than a transportation alternative. It is a way of fully experiencing the city we love and all of its details.

This Film is a celebration. It is a celebration of gatherings, of diversity, of life, and of the beauty of shared experience. We hope you enjoy.

Get a bike. Lock it to a post. Take a pic every day for a year.

Last year, Red Peak Branding conducted a unique urban experiment for Hudson Urban Bicycles. On January 1, 2011 we chained a fully loaded bike - bells, basket, lights and more - to a post along a busy Soho street. We took a picture of the bike everyday for 365 days, watching it slowly vanish before our eyes. The photos we took were then turned into a daily calendar. We call this project LIFECYCLE: 365 days in the life of a bike in NYC.
