Westbeth by Reuben Hernandez

A New Chapter for Reuben Hernandez Studios

I'm so excited and honored to be a resident of Westbeth Artists Housing! It feels like I've come full circle because I lived in the West Village when I first moved to NYC 11 years ago, and my last studio in Brooklyn was also coincidentally on West Street.

Westbeth has a rich history as the former Bell Labs building, and residents have included Diane Arbus, Vin Diesel, Robert De Niro Sr., and Bob Gruen (John Lennon's photographer). Keith Haring had his first solo show at Westbeth in 1981.

Westbeth is also home to the Martha Graham Dance Company, the oldest continually performing dance company in the world and The New School for Drama.

Last week, the day before moving in, Reuben Hernandez Studios celebrated its 12th year.

In other news I finally got a farm table! Time to make something...
