New York: Night and Day is a combination of non-traditional video time-lapse and animation. Philip Stockton filmed day and night scenes from around New York City and combined them back into single sequences using rotoscoping techniques. The piece explores the relationships between night and day, by compositing together scenes shot in the same location over a time period ranging from 4 - 8 hours. Created by Philip Stockton.

I won The East River Ferry/Untapped Cities photo contest, chosen among over 200 entries. I’m both honored and quite surprised. I’ve been photographing a lot lately, especially on my iPhone, and have really been enjoying it and having fun. View the other winners and entries here.

Late last night, I rode my bike around Manhattan with a tripod and camera taking photographs of the dark and eerie city. I felt like I rode through the Twilight Zone, and it was by far the most bizarre experience I have ever had in NYC. Life in lower Manhattan is completely different, as millions of residents are still without power and/or running water. This NY Times article describes the situation quite well.
